This Note proposes a methodology for reviewing paper submissions for PORT's 2002 Pragmatic Web Workshop [PORT 2002], and describes the tools that will be used to support the methodology. This methodology should complement the larger process for reviewing and approving papers, which is not discussed here. 1A (02)
In short, I propose the following: 1B (03)
Purple numbers are a simple technique for addressing sections of a document. [Kim 2001] Logical chunks of a paper are assigned a purple number, which may be linked to directly by copying and pasting the address of that purple number. For example, following the link: 2A (016)
http://www.eekim.com/software/purple/purple.html#nid02 2B (017)
takes you to the paragraph in the document with the purple number "(02)". 2C (018)
There are several ways to get the address of a purple number. You can click on it, and copy the URL in the browser's address window. You can also right-click the purple number, and select "Copy link address." You can then paste the address into your editor. 2D (019)
For an example of a Dialog Mapped e-mail discussion, see: 3A (021)
http://www.eekim.com/distcomp/dialogmaps/webservices.html 3B (022)
http://www.eekim.com/distcomp/200202-python-xml-sig/ 3D (024)
Notice that each element in the Dialog Map also has a purple number, and may be addressed the same way as any other document with purple numbers. 3E (025)
