The Summer schools "Current topics in Computational Linguistics" and the RANLP-events has always been a meeting venue of scientists coming from all parts of the world, facilitating contacts between researchers from Central and Eastern Europe with their colleagues from West Europe and America. Both sides greatly benefit from talks and exchange of ideas and experience. The selection rate of RANLP-97 was about 1/3, so the scientific level of RANLP-events is internationally recognised as very high. RANLP-2001 emphasises on the participation of young people, therefore it focuses on the citizens of tomorrow who will develop and apply future HLT in the multilingual Europe of the new millennium.
