I am professor at the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Here I am responsible for the speech laboratory of the institute, where I am leading the development of speech technologies. I am also serving as lecturer and the scientific advisor of the master program in Computational Linguistics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski.
My research interests lie in the area of finite-state automata, approximate search methods and Natural Language Processing techniques. I led the development of WallBreaker – the winner of the International competition on Scalable String Similarity Search and Join held within EDBT/ICDT 2013. Currently, I am leading the development of research and development projects for state-of-the-art Bulgarian speech recognition and speech synthesis systems based on deep neural networks.
I am author of over 60 research papers, the monograph Finite State Techniques published by Cambridge University Press and the C(M) programming language.
